What we collect

We only collect what we need to rent you a van and keep the road legal. That means:

Contact details
Name, email, phone, and your business name if you book under a company.
Booking details
Pickup depot, dates, the van you chose, delivery address (for weekly+ rentals), and any add-ons.
A payment token
A secure reference from our payment processor. We do not see or store your full card number.
Driver licence number
Collected at pickup to verify you're licensed to drive a commercial van in BC. Required by law and by our insurer.
Basic usage data
Pages you visit and general device info, so the site works and we can fix what breaks.

How we use it

Straightforward: to run your rental and to be a real business you can reach.

Confirm your booking, prep the van, and arrange depot pickup or delivery.
Charge the rental, hold and release your refundable $300 deposit.
Verify your licence and meet insurance and safety requirements.
Reach you about your rental — pickup details, returns, or 24/7 roadside help.
Keep the website and booking system working well.

Payment & card data

Your card details go straight to our PCI-compliant payment processor. eVans BC never sees or stores your full card number, CVV, or expiry — we only keep a secure token the processor gives us so we can charge the rental and refund your deposit. If you have a dispute about a charge, the processor's protections apply alongside ours.

The refundable $300 deposit is authorized against your card and released after the van is returned and checked. We don't keep the card on file beyond the processor token tied to your booking.

Cookies & analytics

We use a small number of cookies to keep you signed in, remember your booking in progress, and understand which pages people actually use. Our analytics are aggregated — we're counting trends, not tracking you across the web. You can clear or block cookies in your browser; some booking features may not work without them.

Data sharing

We do not sell your personal information. Full stop. We share data only with the service providers we need to run the rental — our payment processor, our insurer, and the tools that send your booking confirmations. Those partners are bound to use your data only for the service they provide to us. We may also disclose information if the law requires it (for example, a valid request from authorities after an incident).

Your rights

Under BC and Canadian privacy law, you can:

Access the personal information we hold about you.
Correct anything that's wrong or out of date.
Delete your information, where we're not required to keep it for legal or insurance reasons.

Email privacy@evrentalcanada.com and we'll respond within 30 days. We may need to verify your identity first.

Retention

We keep your booking and rental records for as long as needed to run your account and meet our tax, insurance, and legal obligations — typically a few years after your last rental. Licence verification details are kept only as long as required for the rental and any related claim, then securely deleted. After that, we delete or anonymize what we no longer need.
